We are seeking a post-doctoral fellow in the Department of Psychology at the Harvard University to begin in summer 2020. This position will be based in the Stress and Development Lab, led by Katie McLaughlin. Our research examines the impact of environmental experience on children’s development and aims to identify mechanisms linking experiences of adversity to the onset of psychopathology. This post-doctoral position will focus on examining the association of early language exposure with children’s cognitive and neural development and the role of individual differences in language exposure in explaining socio-economic disparities in neurocognitive outcomes. Specific activities will include managing a team to lead linguistic coding of naturalistic parent-child observations, analyzing behavioral, structural neuroimaging, and functional neuroimaging data from a longitudinal study, and grant writing in addition to leading independent research. The post-doctoral fellow will be based in the Stress and Development Lab.Candidates will have a doctoral degree in psychology, cognitive neuroscience, or a related area. Strong candidates will have a track record of research in the domains of language, cognitive development, and neurodevelopment, interest or expertise in the consequences of early-life adversity or socio-economic status, the ability to effectively manage a research team, and experience working with children and adolescents.
