David Weissman, a post-doc in the Stress and Development Lab has been awarded a Young Scientist Transition Award from the Harvard Brain Science Initiative. The Young Scientist Transition Awards, made possible with funding from the Office of the Provost, are designed to provide relief funding to neuroscience postdocs at Harvard University whose career progress has been significantly delayed by institutional shutdowns, slowdowns and delays in job search processes caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. The support from this award will allow David to remain in his current position for another year, which will allow him to complete data collection on the FACEs Study, which is resuming now after a year delay due to the pandemic. The award will ensure the financial stability of David’s family, including his sons Gabriel (4) and Sterling (1), while he continues to build his program of research and pursues his career aspirations of being a college professor for another job cycle.
