Gabriela Ureña Matos (she/her)
Gabby graduated from Columbia University in 2020 with a B.A. in Psychology and a minor in Art History. At Columbia, Gabby worked in the Developmental Affective Neuroscience Lab with Dr. Nim Tottenham. This is where she was first introduced to the various components that can be included within early childhood adversity. While in undergrad, Gabby also volunteered as a college counselor, mentor, and educator for underserved youth in NYC. Through these experiences, she began to realize that she wanted to give back to her own community by working with Latinx and immigrant populations. While still exploring her options, she is interested in finding ways to better implement interventions for anxiety and mood disorders in these populations as well as researching the various forms of trauma that can result from immigrating. When not at the lab, Gabby enjoys practicing yoga, creating new recipes, visiting art museums, and tending to her houseplants.
