Post-Doctoral Fellow
Laura Machlin
Laura Machlin received her BA in Psychology from Wesleyan University in 2013. In 2022, she completed her Ph.D. in Psychology & Neuroscience in the Clinical Psychology program under the mentorship of Dr. Margaret Sheridan. She completed her clinical internship at UPMC Western Psychiatric Hospital in Pittsburgh. Clinically, Laura has advanced training in evidence-based assessment and treatment of children and adolescents with emotional and behavioral difficulties. In her dissertation research, Laura examined how deprivation and threat are associated with changes in brain structure in early childhood, peripheral physiology during fear learning, and neural activation during a social evaluation task in adolescence. As a postdoctoral fellow in the Stress and Development Lab, Laura continues to be interested in how early adversity is biologically embedded in early childhood and adolescence and associations with risk for psychopathology.
