Stephanie DeCross graduated from Dartmouth College in 2013 with a BA in Psychological & Brain Sciences and Linguistics & Cognitive Sciences and a minor in Mind, Brain, & Education. After graduation, she worked as a clinical research coordinator with Dr. Daphne J. Holt in the Emotion & Social Neuroscience Lab at Massachusetts General Hospital’s Athinoula A. Martinos Center for Biomedical Imaging. Through her studies of fear-related processes and experiences working with populations with and at risk for psychosis, Stephanie developed an interest in the developmental trajectories underlying mental illness. Specifically, she is interested in understanding the role that aberrantly developing threat circuitry plays in leading to various forms of psychopathology and was awarded the NSF GRFP to pursue this work in graduate school, where her current projects examine how exposure to childhood trauma alters neural circuitry during fear learning and at rest in ways that impact mental health.
